Planning a kids' party in Currumbin & Palm Beach: a simple checklist

A beautifully styled party on the southern Gold Coast doesn't need to be stressful or expensive. Work backwards from the date and you'll coast through it. Here's the checklist we give local families.

4–6 weeks before

• Lock the date, the spot (home, park or hall) and a rough guest count.
• Pick a loose theme or colour — it makes every other choice easier.
• Enquire early for hire pieces, especially for weekends and school holidays; popular runner colours and the trestle and grazing pieces book out first.

2–3 weeks before

• Confirm your hire: a package (Starter, Party or Deluxe) or your own mix of items.
• Choose your runner colour and any extras — cake stand, vases, drinks station.
• Sort food and cake. A grazing or dessert table looks the part with minimal effort.
• Send invites.

The week of

• Confirm pick-up or local delivery. Pick-up is from Currumbin; delivery to Tugun, Palm Beach, Elanora and Burleigh is by arrangement.
• Pay the balance and the refundable $50 bond (due 7 days out, or cash on pick-up).
• Plan your table: cloth, runner, plates and tumblers, a centrepiece, a few florals.

Party day

• Set the table early while it's quiet — it only takes a few minutes with everything to hand.
• Keep the hire tub nearby for easy pack-down.
• Enjoy it. The reusable pieces mean no bin-bags of plastic at the end of the night.

After

• Scrape and rinse, pack the tub, and return it — we do the proper wash.
• Your bond is refunded within 7 days of items coming back undamaged.
